Naval Dagger w/portepee & Hammered Scabbard.No

Weapons of Imperial Germany for information and
photographs on this pattern dagger and scabbard.
Brass hilt fittings show light surface wear/age
patina to the peened-type flaming ball/"waves"
pommel and crossguard with fouled anchor motif on
the obvers/reverse quillon block. Black celluloid
grip shows only light surface wear with no cracks
or chips and is complete with tight twisted brass
wire wrap. Plated, long ricasso, double-fullered
blade, as pictured on page 77, center of the above
reference, stiletto style blade grades EX/EX+ showing
light surface wear and minor spotting primarily
to ricassos and several faint nicks to cutting edges,
but no peeling or lifting. Blade is complete with
red felt buffer pad and a bowed spring to retain
the dagger in the scabbard. The dent-free, gilded-brass,
hammered scabbard shows light surface wear with
portions of gilding remaining and is complete with
reef knot suspension bands. The scabbard throat
is retained with one round head screw. The original
to the piece, silver bullion portepee shows light
age patina and minor wear, but no fraying or damage.
