Early
Fire Official's Sword w/RARE Sword Knot. Carl Eickhorn,
squirrel within double-oval TM. This early Weimar/Third
Reich Fire Official's Sword was recently obtained
from the estate of WWII, 28th Infantry Division
veteran, Ernest Horrmann. Plain, solid-nickel hilt
fittings show light age patina to the unadorned
pommel/backstrap, ferrule and crossguard. Black
rayskin grip shows light age with no rips or tears
and is complete with tight twisted triple wire wrap.
Plated, double-etched, blade measuring 33 ¼"
in length grades Exc/Exc+ showing light surface
wear with uniform gray speckling, but no nicks to
cutting edge. Obverse and reverse blade feature
a 12 ½" long raised etched floral motif
surrounding a central design of fire fighting equipment
to include ladder, hose, fire axe and fire helmet.
Obverse etched panel shows some gray spotting to
background frosting and blade is complete with laurel
leaf motif on spine of blade running the length
of the etched panel, and is complete with brown
leather blade buffer pad. frosting remaining on
both obverse and reverse. Black leather scabbard
shows minor surface wear, but no rips, tears or
creases and no damage to the reverse stitching.
Upper and lower solid nickel fittings show light
age patina with a small depression to the obverse
upper and lower fitting, but no damage to the reverse,
retaining staples. Attached to the grip is an Exc++,
RARE original Fire Official's knot w/gold bullion
strap with two double, red stripes, gold slide,
stem, crown/acorn & woven red acorn insert.
