Third Reich Mining Service (Bergbau) Sword w/Sword Knot. ACS scales,(Alcoso) stamped TM . Plain, gilded brass hilt fittings show light surface wear, with portions of the gilding remaining on pommel/backstrap, knuckle-bow and crossguard. A silver Miner's hammer and mallet insignia of the Mining Service (Bergbau) is pinned to the obverse langet. Black celluloid-over-wood grip shows light surface wear with no cracks or chips and is complete with triple-twisted brass wire wrap. Plain, plated blade measuring 31" in length grades EX+/EX++, showing light surface wear/runner marks, but no lifting, pitting or nicks to cutting edge, and is complete with off-white felt/suede blade buffer pad. Black leather scabbard shows surface wear/scuffs and one minor crease above the lower fitting, but no rips or tears and no damage to the reverse stitching. Upper and lower gilded brass fittings show traces of gilding with two minor depressions to the obverse upper and lower fitting with both retaining staples present. The original Miner's silver bullion sword knot with black stripes grades EX showing light wear/age patina, with some minor fraying to strap. EX+ (25533) $1,850.
