SS NCO Sword. No maker. Nickel-plated
hilt fittings show minor surface wear with some
very faint speckling to pommel area, but no lifting
to plating. Cast pommel cap with raised SS Runes
and oak leaf embellished ferrule retain 100% of
the factory background darkening. The underside
of crossguard is not SS proofmarked. Black wooden
grip shows minor surface wear, but no cracks or
chips. Polished blade measuring 32 ¼"
in length grades EX++, showing minor surface wear/runner
marks and some very faint gray shadowing, but with
no nicks or damage to the cutting edge, and is complete
with white leather blade buffer pad. Steel scabbard
retains 100% of the professionally repainted black
enamel, with one small depression on upper obverse
obverse shell, but no crazing or damage to paint.
Nickel-plated upper scabbard fitting shows light
surface wear, but no damage to the unturned retaining
screws. Scabbard throat is SS proofmarked. Nice
example of an early quality SS NCO sword recently
obtained from a long established mid-west collection.
