Luftwaffe Sword. SMF, seated king TM. This nice aluminum example was recently obtained from the family of an Arizona WW II Veteran. Frosted aluminum hilt fittings show faint wear to pommel and crossguard, with virtually 100% the gold wash remaining on pommel and crossguard swastikas, with minor loss only to the obverse crossguard swastika. Blue leather grip is perfect with no nicks or tears, and is complete with tight double aluminum wire wrap. Plated blade measuring 30" in length grades EX++, showing light surface wear/runner marks, but no gray shadowing, pitting or nicks to cutting edges. Reverse blade is Waffen-Amt stamped and is complete with blue leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free scabbard shows some minor surface scuffing, but no rips or tears to the blue leather which matches the grip leather perfectly. Dent-free, upper and lower aluminum scabbard fittings grade Near MINT, showing only minor surface oxidation to obverse upper fitting, and are complete with all four, undamaged retaining screws. The scabbard is without the integral leather hanger which has been lost to time. Nice aluminum example. EX++ (25529) $1,695.
