Third Reich Prison Official's Sword w/Double-Trademark. "Z" inside a shield surmounted by a crown (obverse) and Clemen & Jung above Solingen (reverse) double-TM. Illustrations of these trademarks appear on page 99 of The Sword And Knife Makers Of Germany 1850-2000 Volume 1 by the late Anthony Carter. Photographs of this pattern Clemen & Jung sword appear on page 263 of Swords of Germany 1900/1945 by John R. Angolia. Gilded aluminum hilt fittings retain approximately 99% of the rich honey-gold wash sowing only faint wear to the brow of the stylized eagle head with superb detail to the feathering on the backstrap and knuckle-bow. The crossguard features matching obverse/reverse langets comprised of large open-winged eagles/swastikas on a stippled background within heavy raised borders. Black enameled, simulated celluloid grip shows light surface wear to enamel, and is complete with tight triple twisted silver wire wrap. Plated blade measuring 29 ¾" in length grades EX++, showing only minor surface wear/runner marks primarily to the lower blade but, no shadowing, lifting, pitting or nicks to cutting edge and is with original black leather buffer pad. Dent-free scabbard retains approximately 95% of the original black enamel showing minor surface wear/crazing with a 1 ½" long area of wear to the lower obverse shell and drag with a small depression to the lower reverse shell. Nice original Prison Official's sword from a long established collection and the first example JRB&M has offered in some time. EX++ (26802) $2,695. SOLD
