Personalized Third Reich Dove
Head Sword w/Double-Etched Blade. Puma, Solingen
(puma head inside diamond) TM. A photograph of this
pattern sword appears on page 115, lower, of Swords
of Germany 1900/1945 by John R. Angolia. Gilted
brass hilt fittings show light surface wear with
much gilting remaining to the engraved oak leaf
motif on the pommel, backstrap, knuckle-bow, and
obverse langet with engraved Wehrmacht eagle. Reverse
langet is jeweler engraved with the intertwined
initials, "FJE" of the original owner.
Black celluloid grip shows light surface wear with
one hairline crack on upper reverse between the
underside of the pommel and the first strand of
the tight triple twisted brass grip wire. Plated
double-etched blade measuring 32 ¾"
in length grades excellent++/Near MINT showing only
minor surface wear with no lifting or nicks, and
is complete with dark brown leather blade buffer
pad. Both obverse and reverse blade feature 11 7/8"
long light gray frosted panels with raised floral
motif. Spine of blade is also etched with a matching
pattern, and 100% of the gray background frosting
remains in all etched panels. Dent-free scabbard
retains 100% of the professionally repainted black
enamel. Very nice Puma example with superb double-etched
blade. Exc+/Exc++ (22170) $1,595.
