Third Reich Army Artillery NCO/EM Sword w/Personalized
Double-Etched Blade. E.u.F. Hörster, sword
within "H" double-oval TM. Plain, unadorned
nickel-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear
with no speckling or lifting to the pommel, knuckle-bow
or langets. Black bakelite grip is perfect with
no cracks or chips and is complete with tight triple
wire wrap. Plated double-etched blade measuring
30" in length grades Exc++ showing light surface
wear/runner marks with several faint nicks to cutting
edge and a small "crimp" near tip, but
no lifting or peeling to plating, and is complete
with original brown leather blade buffer pad. Obverse
blade features a 14" long frosted panel with
raised oak leaf motif, horse head and mounted rider
and personalized with the owners monogram "EV"
raised script letters. Central panel is inscribed,
"Artillerie-Regiment 18". Reverse blade
features a 14" long frosted panel with floral
motif, Stahlhelm with crossed swords and oak/laurel
leaves with a central panel with motif of a mounted
artillery section with riders, cannoneers, caisson
artillery piece. Blade retains 100% of the frosted
background finish on the blade panels as well as
the laurel leaf motif on the blade spine which is
etched, "E.u.F. Hörster, Waffenfabrik,
Solingen" in raised letters. Dent-free, steel
scabbard retains approximately 98% of the possibly,
period, repainted black enamel showing only a few
specks of missing paint. Attached to the hilt is
an original Army NCO sword knot with gray leather
strap with green/bullion crown and bullion acorn.
Underside of strap is maker stamped, "Thiele
& Steinert 1935" in black letters. Nice
