Reich Army Cavalry NCO/EM Sword w/Double-Etched
Blade. ACS Scales, TM. Plain, unadorned nickel-plated
hilt fittings show surface wear/loss of plating
primarily to obverse pommel with speckling to back-strap,
knuckle-bow and langets. Black bakelite grip shows
light wear with one crack on the lower reverse,
but no damage to tight triple wire wrap. Plated
double-etched blade measuring 34 ¾"
in length grades Exc++ showing light surface wear/runner
marks with several tiny nicks to cutting edge, but
no lifting or peeling to plating, and is complete
with original red felt blade buffer pad. Obverse
blade features a 14" long frosted panel with
raised floral/oak leaf motif, horse head and mounted
rider flanking a central panel is inscribed, "Kavallerie
Regiment 18". Reverse blade features a 14"
long frosted panel with floral motif, Stahlhelm
with crossed swords, lance and oak/laurel leaves
with a central panel featuring a motif of a mounted
Cavalry Troop with Officer, trumpeter and troopers.
Blade retains 100% of the frosted background finish
on the blade panels as well as the laurel leaf motif
on the blade spine. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains
approximately 50% of the factory black enamel showing
uniform wear to obverse/reverse. Exc/Exc+ (24946)
