Third Reich Army Artillery NCO/EM Sword w/Double-Etched
Blade. Rich. A. Herder, 4-point star, Solingen
TM. Plain, unadorned nickel-plated hilt fittings
show light surface wear with minor speckling/lifting
to the pommel, knuckle-bow and langets. Black bakelite
grip is perfect with no cracks or chips and is complete
with tight triple wire wrap. Plated double-etched
blade measuring 34" in length grades EX++ showing
light surface wear/runner marks with several tiny
gray specks, but no no lifting or peeling to plating
and no nicks to cutting edge, and is complete with
original brown leather blade buffer pad. Obverse
blade features a 14" long frosted panel with
raised floral and geometric motif, horse head and
crossed swords and helmet flanking a central panel
with the raised inscription in Gothic letters, "Zur
Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit" flanked by
a Stahlhelm and early Wehrmacht eagle with short
wing span. Reverse blade features a 14" long
frosted panel with with raised floral and geometric
motif, Stahlhelm with crossed swords and oak/laurel
leaves, crossed flags and trumpet flanking a central
panel with motif of a mounted artillery section
with riders, cannoneers, and caisson artillery piece.
Blade retains 100% of the frosted background finish
on the blade panels as well as the laurel leaf motif
on the blade spine. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains
approximately 98% of the possibly, period, repainted
black enamel showing light wear and a few specks
of missing paint. Nice double-etched Third Reich
