Long KS/98 Bayonet w/Single Etched Blade. E. Pack & Söhne Solingen, Siegfried wielding hammer TM. Photographs of this etch pattern appear on page 150 of German Etched Dress Bayonets by Wayne H. Techet. Nickel-plate over gray metal hilt fittings show much surface wear to pommel and spine with portions of plating remaining on cross guard and finger guard. Pommel slot is complete with original green felt plug showing moth damage. Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips and are complete with the correct Pack style offset retaining screws showing crazing to the screw heads. Plated blade grades EX++/Near MINT showing only faint surface wear/runner marks, with no shadowing or nicks to cutting edge and is complete with dark brown leather buffer pad. Obverse blade features E. Pack & Söhne 1938 catalog motif Nr.11, "Neutral" which features a 5 ½" long frosted panel featuring raised floral motifs flanking the three-line remembrance of service time inscription, "Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit beim Inf. Rgt. 90 Deutsch Krone" in raised gothic letters. Steel scabbard retains approximately 95% of the original black enamel showing crazing and several specks of missing paint primarily to the reverse and lower ball. VG+/Exc. (23346) $595.
