Long Imperial/Third Reich KS/98
Bayonet w/Saw-Tooth Blade Double Trademark &
Frog.Stamped, side-by-side King's head and knight's
helmet TM. This WK&C bayonet was recently obtained
from the grandson of WWII veteran, Gaylord B. Peterson
who brought the bayonet home as war booty. Nickel
hilt fittings show surface wear/age spotting residue
to pommel and recurved crossguard, but no pitting.
The pommel slot is complete with an original to
the bayonet, piece of folded, red cloth. The official
pattern black bakelite grip plates show light wear,
but no cracks or chips and are complete with three
domed head rivets as is correct for bakelite plates.
The plated, Extrawaffen quality blade measuring
25.2cm in length grades EX showing surface wear/age/runner
marks with no lifting/pitting or nicks to cutting
edge. The double-sawtooth spine is perfect showing
age residue in the recesses of the teeth, but no
damage to any teeth, and is complete with black
leather buffer pad. Blued steel, K-98 bayonet pattern
scabbard shows uniform wear except under the frog
where much of the bluing remains. The lower reverse
shell shows two minor depressions and reverse lower
ball is Waffen-Amt stamped. Obverse upper scabbard
is stamped, "5935" over an "i"
with the reverse scabbard stamped, "E.Pack&S."
over "1939". The black leather, 4-rivet,
triple-stitched, combat quality frog grades VG+/EX
showing surface wear/age with no rips, tears or
damage to the stitching and is complete with grip
strap. Unique veteran estate acquired bayonet that
spans both the WWI and WWII eras. EX (26006) $435..
