Long KS/98 Postschutz Bayonet
w/Serial Number. Paul
Weyersberg & Co. Solingen in three lines within
single-oval TM. As indicated in German Clamshells
& Other Bayonets, page 136 by G.L. Walker and
R.J. Weinand and Seitengewehr: History of the German
Bayonet 1919-1945, pages 181 - 185 by George T.
Wheeler, Paul Weyersberg was one of two manufacturers
of Postschutz bayonets. Nickel plated hilt fittings
show light surface wear/gray speckling primarily
to reverse pommel and crossguard. Pommel slot is
complete with green felt plug. Black bakelite grip
plates are perfect with no cracks or chips. Plated
24.8cm blade grades EX++ showing only light surface
wear/runner marks with no gray shadowing/speckling
or nicks to cutting edge. Obverse ricasso is stamped,
"DRP" (Deutsche Reichspost) and "6188"
and is complete with black leather blade buffer
pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately
98% of the original black paint showing minor surface
wear/age crazing primarily to the lower shell with
loss of enamel lower ball. EX+ (25308) $750. SOLD
