Third Reich Municipal Police Bayonet w/Double TM,
Frog & Portepee. ACS, scales (obverse) and Alexander
Coppel, ACS scales, Solingen double TM. Nickel-plated
hilt fittings show excellent detail to the eagle
head pommel and oak leaf embellished crossguard
with surface wear to highlights loss of plating
primarily to the spine. Reverse crossguard is stamped
"S.G.I.45." (Municipal Police property
administrative district Gumbinnen, duty location
I, weapon 45) with spine of blade stamped, "A
34". Dark brown stag horn grip plates show
surface wear but no cracks or chips with Third Reich
Police grip emblem properly pinned to the obverse
plate. The extra holes at the lower edge of the
grip caused when the grip was cut down have been
filled with a colored filler. Also visible are the
extra holes adjacent to the grip eagle where the
Weimar Police emblem was attached. Plated blade
measuring 32.7cm in length grades EX+/EX++ with
runner marks/surface wear, a few gray specks and
some minor graying near tip where blade was shortened
at the time the original clamshell was removed.
Spine of blade is Waffen-Amt marked and stamped
"A 34" and is complete with black leather
blade buffer pad. Black leather scabbard shows surface
wear with no creases, rips or tears, and no damage
to the reverse stitching. Dent-free, nickel-plated
scabbard fittings show light surface wear/age patina,
but no damage to the lower ball, and are complete
with both retaining staples. Reverse upper scabbard
fitting is stamped with the matching Gumbinnen Municipal
Police marking with the matching number "45"
stamped on the scabbard throat. Brown leather frog
grades EX+ and is complete with EX++ NCO portepee.
Reverse frog is stamped, "Po 1937, 285"
and maker marked, Hans Römer 1937 Neu-Ulm".
