Combat Bayonet w/Frog. E.u F. Hörster, single-line
TM. This Pre-War, Hörster example was recently
obtained from the son of a WWII veteran as part
of his extensive bayonet collection. Blued steel
hilt fittings show surface wear to pommel/flashguard/crossguard
with reverse pommel double-Waffenamt stamped, "WaA253".
Medium brown, nicely grained, wooden grip plates
show light surface wear with no cracks or chips
and with oil/drain holes at the lower edge on both
obverse and reverse. Blued steel blade grades Near
MINT showing virtually no runner wear, damage or
sharpening to cutting edge, and with obverse ricasso
is stamped, "6055" over "t".
Blued steel scabbard shows surface wear with a surface
depression to the center reverse shell. Upper obverse
shell is stamped, "6819" with reverse
stamped, "fze" (F.W. Höller Waffenfabrik)
"43". The scabbard was possibly switched
during combat operations or depot maintenance. Reverse
scabbard ball is Waffenamt stamped. Bayonet is complete
with an Exc+, unmarked, black leather, 4-rivet,
triple-stitched frog/grip strap showing light surface
wear/age with no damage to the rivets or to white
stitching which shows no evidence of leather dye
