RARE Long Weimar Era Pionier KS/98 Bayonet.Initials version A C S with scales TM. An illustration of a page from an early Alcoso sales catalog shows this pattern bayonet was available with either the 20cm or 25cm blade. Nickel plated hilt fittings show light wear/age with some minor speckling/lifting primarily to the edges of the push lug on the pommel with shortened eagle's beak and to the reverse crossguard without upturned quillon. Pommel slot is complete with dark green felt plug. Black bakelite grips are perfect with no cracks or chips. Plated blade grades measuring 24.7cm in length grades EX+ showing runner marks/light scratches with a few tiny nicks to cutting edge, but no pitting to plating. The blade is complete with brown leather buffer pad. Steel scabbard retains approximately 90% of the original black enamel with minor crazing/wear to obverse/reverse shell with one depression on the upper obverse under the frog lug. EX+ (25823) $245.
