Long KS/98 Bayonet w/Single-Etched,
Retailer Marked Luftwaffe Blade, Stag Horn Grip
Plates & Frog. Carl Eickhorn, stamped squirrel-holding-sword
TM. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show light surface/minor
speckling with some minor "pecking" to
top of pommel, but no lifting to plating. Pommel
slot is complete with original slightly soiled felt
plug. Dark brown stag horn grip plates are perfect
with light age toning, but no cracks or chips. Plated
blade measuring 24.9cm in length grades EX/EX+ showing
minor surface wear/runner marks, light gray speckling
and some scratches to the reverse, but no nicks
or sharpening to cutting edge. The obverse blade
features 6 7/8" long light gray etched panel
with a RARE motif not shown in the Eickhorn Kundendienst.
The motif features a pair of two-ribbon bands on
a laurel leaf background with the standard remembrance
of service time motto, "Zur Einnerung an meine
Dienstzeit". These motifs flank a central design
of two etched gull wings within an oak leaf wreath.
Blade spine is etched with the retailer's name,
"C. BUDRUSS, DANZIG" and is complete with
light brown leather blade buffer pad. Steel scabbard
retains approximately 95% of its original black
enamel finish with only one small depression on
the center obverse. Bayonet is complete with black
patent leather double- stitched frog in EX condition
showing age crazing to the patent finish but no
rips or tears and minor wear to the gray felt backing.
Nice Eickhorn example with RARE blade etch and stag
grip plates. EX+ (25836) $645. ~HOLD~
