Short Presentation Fire Official's Bayonet w/Single-Etched
Blade. Carl Eickhorn, stamped squirrel-holding-sword
(partial strike) TM. Nickel-plated hilt fittings
show light surface wear with some speckling/crazing
to the obverse/reverse pommel and a minor wear to
the recurved crossguard. Black bakelite grip plates
show light surface wear witth one chip to lower
obverse grip plate adjacent to rear spine, but no
hairline cracks. There is age/oxidation to the steel
rivets. Plated, single-etched blade measuring 19.6cm
in length EX+ with light surface wear/runner marks
but no lifting or nicks to cutting edge. Obverse
blade features a 5 ¾" long frosted panel
with floral/vine motif flanking the central inscription,
"Für 25 Jährige Treue Dienstaeit"
(For 25 Years of Loyal Service) in raised Githic
letters. The etched panel retains 100% of the background
frosting, and blade is complete with black leather
blade buffer pad. The etch motif is not shown in
the Eickhorn Kundendienst, however it does closely
resemble the E. Pack & Söhne motif pictured
on page 150 of German Etched Dress Bayonets by Wayne
H. Techet. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately
98% of the original black enamel showing wear to
the lower scabbard ball. Bayonet is complete with
black leather double-stitched frog showing light
age/wear to leather, but nor rips or tears, and
with EX/EX+ Fire Official's portepee attached. RARE
