Long Fire Official's Bayonet w/Sawtooth
Blade, Frog & Portepee by RARE Maker. Stylized
"L" and a sword, (Johann Leupold AG, Bayerische
Messerfabrik) stamped TM. As stated on page 275
of The Sword and Knife Makers of Germany 1850-2000
by the late Anthony Carter,
"During the
Third Reich
some Fire Department bayonets were
made with the sword and L mark
". Nickel-plated
hilt fittings show light surface wear/minor surface
scratches pommel and crossguard with recurved quillons.
Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks
or chips. Plated blade measuring 24.5cm in length
grades EX++/Near MINT with light surface wear/runner
marks, but no lifting or nicks to cutting edge,
and no damage to double-saw-tooth spine. Blade is
complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free
steel scabbard retains approximately 85% of the
original black enamel which shows uniform surface
wear/crazing obverse/reverse shell. Brown leather
double-stitched frog and Fire Official bayonet portepee
with bullion/red acorn grade EX+ showing light wear/age.
Reverse frog is maker marked, "Hasenbrügger
& Ellermann Bielefeld". EX+ (25271) $585.
