Long Presentation Fire Official,s Bayonet w/Double-Etched Blade. Carl Eickhorn, stamped squirrel with serrated tail holding sword TM. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear with no lifting or peeling to pommel or recurved crossguard. Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips. Polished, double-etched blade measuring 24.7cm in length grades EX+/EX++, showing only light surface wear/runner marks. Obverse blade features 7 ½" long gray, frosted panel with raised floral motif flanking a central raised inscription in Gothic letters, "Für 25 Jährige Treue Dienstzeit" (For 25 years of loyal service). Reverse blade features a matching 7 ½" frosted panel with raised floral motif flanking a central raised inscription in raised Gothic letters, "Berufsfeuerwehr Tilsit" (Professional Fire Department, Tilsit). Tilsit is now located in Poland. Blade is complete with original brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 90% of its original black enamel, showing light surface wear/crazing. Nice fire bayonet with rare presentation inscription. EX+ (25765) $1,295.
