Frog.Stamped Aesculap above snake wrapped around
a crowned pole (obverse) and three-line AESCULAP-WERKE
JETTERS&SHEERER TUTTLINGEN (reverse) double-TM.
As stated on page 52 of The Sword And Knife Makers
Of Germany 1850-2000 Volume 1 by the late Anthony
Carter, "Walking out bayonets were usually
stamped with the three line marking on one side
and the Aesculap trademark on the [other side]".
Nickel-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear
with/minor speckling to pommel slot lug, but no
major lifting. The pommel slot is complete with
original golden yellow felt plug. Black bakelite
grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips
and feature retaining screws instead of the normally
seen rivets. Plaon plated blade grades measuring
19.6cm grades EX++/Near MINT showing only light
runner mark with no lifting, graying or nicks to
cutting edge. Blade is complete with original dark
brown leather buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard
retains approximately 98% of the original black
anodized finish with much factory lacquer remaining
and only minor wear to the lower ball. The brown
leather, three rivet, double-stitched Luftwaffe
frog grades EX++ showing only minor wear with nor
rips or tears and is complete with Luftwaffe gray
felt backing. Nice Luftwaffe combination with double-trademark.
EX++ (25947) $425.
