An example of this etch pattern appears on page 147, lower of German Etched Dress Bayonets 1933-1945 by Wayne H. Techet as E. Pack & Söhne Neutral motif. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show minor surface wear to pommel, spine, and crossguard, with some with two nicks to the underside of the pommel which is complete with green felt plug in pommel slot. Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips and complete with the unique Pack offset grip retaining screws. Plated blade measuring 20cm in length grades EX+/EX++ showing light surface wear/runner marks and some faint speckling on upper reverse, but no lifting or nicks to cutting edge. Obverse blade features a 5 ½" long frosted etch panel with the standard remembrance of service time inscription in raised gothic letters flanked on each end by raised oak leaves and Art Deco design. The etched panel retains 100% of the background frosting and the blade is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 98% of the original black enamel showing minor crazing and light surface wear primarily to the lower ball. Bayonet is complete with an EX+ black leather four rivet, double stitched frog showing age crazing to the patent leather finish. Exc+/Exc++ (23439) $695.
