Short KS/98 Bayonet w/Single-Etched Blade. Robt.
Klaas, kissing cranes TM. Photographs of this scarce
etch pattern appear on page 233, lower of German
Etched Dress Bayonets by Wayne H. Techet. Nickel-plated
hilt fittings show surface wear to the pommel and
spine with a few minor gray specks to the upturned
finger guard. Pommel slot is complete with red felt
plug. Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with
no cracks or chips. Plated blade measuring 19.5cm
in length, grades EX+ showing light surface wear/runner
marks, with one small spot of lifting on the reverse
tip, but no nicks to cutting edge and is complete
with black leather buffer pad. Reverse blade features
Robert Klaas catalog motif Nr. 1264 comprised of
a 5 5/8"" long gray panel with single-line
remembrance of service time inscription within the
wide fuller and a raised motif of a helmet surmounted
by a short winged eagle and swastika on the ricasso.
Steel scabbard retains approximately 85% of the
original black enamel showing uniform crazing/wear.
Complete w/black patent leather frog showing age
crazing, but no damage to stitching. EX+ (23525)
