    Short KS/98 Bayonet w/Unique Single-Etched Blade & Frog. Carl Eickhorn, stamped squirrel holding sword TM. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show light age speckling to pommel and crossguard with no lifting and with original red felt plug in pommel slot. Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks or chips. Plated blade measuring 19.8cm in length grades EX++ showing light surface wear/runner marks with minor speckling near brown leather blade buffer pad. Obverse blade features Carl Eickhorn etch pattern Nr. 3219 with a ribbon band and standard remembrance of service time motto surrounded by oak leaves with raised Wehrmacht eagle at each end of the etched panel. Entire etched panel features unique, light gold wash showing only minor wear to lower center ridge of blade. Dent-free steel scabbard retains approximately 95% of the original black enamel showing light surface wear/crazing and some loss of enamel to ball. Bayonet is complete with black patent leather frog showing age crazing & dulling to finish. Reverse lower frog features a "D.R.P."(Deutsches Reich Patent) marked black metal "stiffening" plate. Nice Eickhorn example with unique gold washed etched panel, recently obtained in Germany. EX++ (23941) $850.
