KS/98 Bayonet w/Single Etched Blade & Double
TM. Stalking tiger and TIGER Solingen double TM.
Photographs of this etch pattern and double trademark
appear on page 234 of German Etched Dress Bayonets
by Wayne H. Techet. Nickel-plated hilt fittings
show minor surface wear with no lifting or speckling
to the pommel, spine or crossguard with original
red felt plug in pommel slot. Black bakelite grip
plates are perfect with no cracks or chips. Plated
blade grades EX++ showing only faint surface wear/runner
marks, with some minor gray shadowing on obverse
ricasso and is complete with brown leather buffer
pad. Lightly scratched on the obverse ricasso are
the letters, "Wol". The obverse blade
features, as stated on page 234 of the above reference,
"a Neutral pattern [etch] most likely produced
for Tiger by the Robert Klaas Company". The
etch pattern is a 5 ¼"" long frosted
panel with the unique curled cross and wavy line
borders surrounding the standard remembrance motto
flanked by a raised helmet and small Klaas style
open-winged eagle. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains
approximately 95% of the original black enamel,
showing minor surface wear/crazing, with missing
paint primarily to lower ball. Nice Tiger example
with seldom seen double Tiger trademark, recently
obtained in Germany. EX++ (24006) $675.
