KS/98 Bayonet w/Single-Etched Blade & Frog.
E. & F. Hörster Solingen, sword within
"H" double-oval TM. A photograph of this
etch pattern appears on pages 135 lower of German
Etched Dress Bayonets 1933-1945 by Wayne
H. Techet. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show minor
surface wear/speckling to pommel and spine with
one spot wear to plating on reverse crossguard.
Pommel slot is complete with red felt plug. Black
bakelite grip plates are perfect no cracks or chips.
Plated blade measuring 19.3cm in length grades Exc+/Exc++
showing minor runner marks with no lifting or nicks
to cutting edge, and is complete with original black
leather blade buffer pad. Obverse blade features
a 5 ¼" long etched panel with an intricate
design of floral vines/leaves at the point and ricasso
ends and standard remembrance inscription for service
with, "Inftr.- Regt.61. Traunstein" (Traunstein
is located approximately 80km SE of Munich near
Lake Chiemsee). Etched panel retains 100% of the
original factory background frosting. Dent-free
steel scabbard retains approximately 80% of the
original black enamel with wear primarily to lower
obverse shell. Black leather, double-stitched, 4-rivet
frog grades Exc. showing wear/age with reverse stamped,
"Dannshut R B D Halle (8)". Exc+ (24634)
