Short KS/98 Bayonet w/Single-Etched Blade &
Frog. Puma head within diamond, Solingen, (Lauterjung
& Sohn) TM. A photograph of this etch pattern
appears on page 214, upper of German Etched Dress
Bayonets by Wayne H. Techet as Puma motif Nr. 6350.
Nickel-plated hilt fittings show only minor surface
wear with no lifting or speckling to plating. Pommel
slot is complete with original red felt plug. Black
bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks
or chips. Plated blade measuring 19.7cm in length
grades EX++/Near MINT showing only light runner
marks with no graying, lifting or nicks to cutting
edge, and is complete with original black leather
blade buffer pad. Reverse blade features a 4 ½"
long, etched panel with an open-winged Wehrmacht
eagle/swastika on entwined vines at the point end
and a Stahlhelm on entwined vines nearest the ricasso,
flanking the standard remembrance of service inscription
in raised Gothic letters. Etched panel retains 100%
of the original factory background frosting. Dent-free,
steel scabbard retains approximately 95% of the
original black enamel showing minor surface wear/crazing
primarily to the lower obverse shell. Black double-stitched
frog grades EX++/Near MINT showing only minor age/wear
with no rips or tears and no damage to the stitching.
