Short KS/98 Bayonet w/Single-Etched
& Retailer Marked Blade. Carl Eickhorn,
stamped squirrel holding sword TM. Nickel-plated
hilt fittings show light surface wear/faint crazing,
but no lifting to the pommel, spine, or crossguard.
Pommel slot is complete with original red felt plug.
Black bakelite grip plates are perfect with no cracks
or chips. Plated blade measuring 20cm in length
grades EX++ showing only minor surface wear/runner
marks and is complete with dark brown leather blade
buffer pad. Obverse blade features Carl Eickhorn
etch pattern Nr. 3219 with a central ribbon band
with "Zur Erinnerung am meine Dienstzeit"
motto surrounded by oak leaves with raised a Wehrmacht
eagle at each end of the etched panel which retains
100% of the background frosting. Obverse ricasso
is retailer marked, "Ferd. Erdt Kaufbeuren"
as pictured on page 244, lower of German Etched
Dress Bayonets 1933-1945 by Wayne H. Techet. (Kaufbeuren
is located approximately 70 kilometers southeast
of Munich). Steel scabbard retains approximately
98% of its repainted black enamel finish with two
faint depressions on the obverse near the lower
ball. Nice short Eickhorn example! EX++/Near MINT
