      1st Model Navy Dagger w/Depot Markings and Glass-Like Grip. WKC, knight's helmet TM. Gilted brass hilt fittings show surface wear with portions of gilting remaining in recesses of the flaming ball/wave type pommel and crossguard with fouled anchor motif. Light yellow glass-like solid celluloid grip is perfect with no cracks or chips and with tight twisted brass wire wrap present. Plain, double-fullered plated blade grades excellent+ showing light surface wear with a few specks of gray shadowing but no pitting or nicks to cutting edge, and is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Obverse ricasso is stamped with the control number, "N 871" indicating this dagger was the property of Nordseestation headquartered at Wilhelmshaven, and is additionally stamped with the Weimar eagle over "M". Blade is equipped with a blade locking device but no pushbutton activator is housed in the crossguard. Brass lightning bolt scabbard shows light surface wear/age patina with one faint depression on lower obverse. Scabbard is complete with reef knot style scabbard suspension bands with the reef knot only on the obverse. Upper reverse scabbard is also stamped with the control number, "N 871". Nice textbook example of a 1929 pattern Navy dagger with Depot markings and rare glass-like solid celluloid grip. Exc+ (22475) $2,495.
