Imperial Fire Official Dagger. A. C. (Alexander Coppel) stamped TM. Solid nickel hilt fittings show light surface wear/yellow age patina to the wave/flaming ball pommel and crossguard with "clover-leaf" style quillons and raised motif of crossed fire axes and fire helmet on the obverse quillon block. Black bakelite/celluloid grip shows minor surface wear, but no cracks or chips and is complete with tight twisted wire wrap. Plated, double-etched, blade measuring 13 ¼" in length grades Exc/Exc+ showing light surface wear and some gray speckling, but no nicks to cutting edges and is complete with dark red felt blade buffer pad. Both obverse and reverse blade feature 9" long, lightly etched panels with floral design flanking a central motif of fire helmet, ladder, axe, hose and spike. Black leather scabbard shows light surface wear an a few scuffs, but no rips or tears and no damage to reverse stitching. Upper and lower nickel fittings show light surface wear/yellow age patina with a few faint surface depressions to reverse upper/lower fittings, but no damage to lower ball, and are complete with retaining staples. Suspension eyelets/rings appear to be constructed of silver-plated brass with wear to plating. Nice Alexander Coppel example. Exc+/Exc++ (24574) $1,595.
