Third
Reich Lion Head Cavalry Kinder Säbel w/White
Grip. No Maker. Although unmarked, this perfectly-
detailed Kinder Säbel recently obtained in
Germany, closely resembles the Carl Eickhorn Model
Nr. 1324 sword pictured in both the Eickhorn Kundendienst
and on page 76, lower of Swords of Germany 1900/1945
by LTC John R. Angolia. Gold washed aluminum hilt
fittings show light surface wear to highlights with
much gold wash remaining on the lion head pommel
with red glass eyes, oak leaf embellished backstrap,
upper knuckle-bow, lion head quillon and crossguard
with crossed swords within laurel leaf wreath on
the obverse langet. Off-white, celluloid grip is
perfect with no cracks or chips and is complete
with twisted, brass wire wrap. Plain, plated, curved
blade measuring 21 5/8" in length, grades EX++
showing minor surface wear/runner marks with no
lifting, graying or nicks to cutting edge. Tip of
blade is rounded as is normal for Kinder swords
and reverse upper blade is deeply stamped with the
number "16". Blade is complete with brown
leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, nickel-plated
scabbard grades EX++ showing minor surface wear
primarily to lower shell, but no lifting or damage
to plating. Perfectly detailed Third Reich Kinder
Säbel with RARE white grip. EX++ (24276) $695.
