Royal
Yugoslav Army Dagger w/Portepee & Hangers.
Unatttibuted maker/retailer TM. An example of this
RARE dagger can be found on page 53 of Kurt Glemser's
A Guide to Military Dress Daggers, Volume I, and
also on page 263 of World of Dress Daggers 1900
- 1945, Volume I, by Robert J. Berger. Stylized
brass crown pattern pommel and "S" form
crossguard show light surface wear to the copper/bronze-colored
flashing/wash. Light brown/bronze colored lacquered
grip shows light wear with a few chips/nicks to
the lacquer, and is complete with tight twisted
brass wire wrap. Plated, double-edged diamond x-section
blade grades EX+/EX+++ with only light surface wear/runner
marks, and is complete with brown leather blade
buffer pad. Obverse ricasso is stamped with the
name of the maker/retailer in raised Cyrillic letters
in an arc above Royal Yugoslav crest while the reverse
ricasso features a raised Royal Yugoslav eagle.
Dent-free metal scabbard with heavily embossed oak
leaf motif shows light surface wear to dark copper
flashing. Upper, center, and lower brass scabbard
fittings show light age patina, and are complete
with undamaged, flush-mounted retaining screws.
Pinned to the obverse upper scabbard fitting is
a silver-colored Royal Yugoslav crest. Attached
to the dagger is a silver bullion portepee with
blue/red silk threads in the strap and bullion acorn
with blue/red/white acorn core. Dagger is complete
with a set of Very RARE, original brown leather
hangers with copper/bronze-colored fittings/buckles
and brown felt backings. Upper portion of hangers
is embossed with the Royal Yugoslav crest. Leather
shows minor wear with some moth damage to the felt
