Czechoslovak Air Force Dagger w/Hangers. No maker. An example of this dagger can be found on page 79 of World of Dress Daggers 1900 -1945 by Robert J. Berger. Gilt finished hilt fittings show surface wear with dark age patina to the square-shaped pommel and to the upturned crossguard with obverse and reverse center crossguard having a raised lion of Bohemia. Off-white imitation ivory grip plates show light surface wear/age with one small area of chipping on the upper edge of the reverse plate. Plated blade grades excellent+/excellent++ with light runner marks to the lower half of the double-edged diamond cross-section blade with some minor scratching to the obverse and reverse ricasso. Dent-free steel scabbard is covered in smooth brown leather which shows none of the normally encountered shrinkage nor loss of the hard surface finish. Upper, center, and lower gilt fittings show light surface wear with dark age patina. Dagger is complete with a set of variation double strap detachable hangers with rectangular buckles with pearl bands. Hangers can be attached to the stationary scabbard suspension rings by means of small buckles on the reverse of the hangers. Exc+ (26491) $1,995.
