Rumanian Army Officer Dagger w/Fabric Hangers.
No maker. A picture of this dagger can be found on
p. 35 of "A Guide to Military Dress Daggers",
Volume I, by Kurt Glemser. Brass fittings throughout

Rumanian seal within an ornate box and has oak leaves
and acorns for the scabbard bands. Rings are present.

dents to the scabbard. Blade is bright but does show
very minor sharpening along the edge and is numbered
"1947". Complete with original hangers,
which are yellow with red & blue threads running
throughout. Oval buckles have the Rumanian crest.

Post-War
SA "Parts" Dagger w/o Scabbard.
B & A (cross within circle) TM. These daggers
were produced in Germany at the end of WWII and,
most likely, into the 1950s and were constructed
using some original parts. An example of this dagger
is shown on page 282 of Volume I of Collecting
the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich. Aluminum
hilt fittings show light surface wear to original
aluminum pommel nut and crossguards. Dark reddish
brown plastic grip is perfect with no cracks or
chips; eagle and SA insert are properly placed.
Has an excellent grip-to-crossguard fit. Polished
blade grades MINT with SA motto deeply etched with
gray background frosting. Blade features the sharp
ridge seen on post- war SA blades; 100% of cross-graining

Miniature
Postwar Occupation Forces 2nd Model Luftwaffe
Dagger.
No maker. As explained on page 211 of Collecting the
Edged Weapons of the Third Reich, Volume I, and page
141 of Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich,
Vol. V by LTC (Ret.) Thomas M. Johnson, some enterprising
dagger manufacturers used their leftover stock of
daggers and sold them to the Allied military forces.
These miniature 2nd model Luftwaffe daggers are examples
of this enterprise. Although unmarked, these daggers
were based on size and scabbard shape, probably, produced
by the SMF firm. The aluminum hilt fittings have been
altered by having the pommel swastika camouflaged
with a checkerboard pattern and the crossguard swastika
professionally removed. The perfect light yellow celluloid
grip is without wire wrap. The unmarked, plated blade
is complete with blue leather blade buffer pad. Flat
style, SMF scabbard without suspension bands or rings
grades Near MINT with only light age patina. Great
desk accessory for use as letter opener. The following
miniatures are available: Near MINT w/original period
cardboard box (19406 - 2 available) $175.@ |

Early
Commercially-Produced German Gravity Knife.
Blackhawk TM (German export for U.S. sales). This
commercially exported German knife is very similar
to the German paratrooper knife, only thinner in design
and of total metal construction. Has a unique button
release on top of knife (very similar in location
to the type found on the Luftwaffe Gravity knife).
Blade shows some light sharpening. Maker's name is
visible on the blade. Blade is in very nice condition.
Knife is totally black. Action release of the blade
is perfect. It is a little slow going back in. Very
rare pocket knife which is seldom encountered! These
early gravity knives have become very collectible
in their own right! Exc. (11687) $295. |
