Militaria Item of the Month

This is our newest featured militaria item. When
choosing an item of the month we look for a distinctly different piece that has character and is out of the ordinary. The object is not always intended to be a big seller, it is intended to show the various aspects of German and non-German militaria and collectibles.

RARE Presentation 17" DLV Flyer's Dagger

RARE PRESENTATION
17" DLV FLYER'S DAGGER

Sorry if you missed our last JRB&M featured item, the ultra-rare Water Customs dagger by E. & F. Hörster. It was only posted for less than a couple of hours before it was purchased by an advanced collector in Europe. Here is another rare dagger that a only a few collectors have in their dagger collections, and it’s a presentation piece to boot! Once more, here is the opportunity to move your own German Edged Weapon collection up a notch!

RARE Presentation 17" DLV Flyer's Dagger. Adolf Braun, Berlin stamped TM (See page 86 of Collecting The Edged Weapons of the Third Reich, Vol. I). This RARE dagger was originally obtained in Germany from a relative of Egon Müller, Commander of the Air Field near Hannover during the Third Reich. The dagger was presented to Herr Müller by his friend, "Werner". The early, flat pommel and crossguard show light surface wear/age patina on perfect inset gilded swastikas. The blue leather grip is perfect with no rips or tears and no loss of color, and is complete with tight twisted brass wire. Polished blade measuring 12 7/16" in length grades Exc+/Exc++ showing light surface wear/runner marks and minor gray shadowing, but no nicks to cutting edge. Obverse, flat of blade is personalized, "In treuer Fliegerkameradschaft 1.8.34. Werner" (In loyal/faithful Flying comradeship 1 August 1934 Werner) in engraved block letters. Blade is complete with blue leather blade buffer pad. Blue leather scabbard without liners shows minor surface wear with one minor crease between the center and lower scabbard fitting, but no rips or tears and no loss of color. Upper, center and lower nickel-silver fittings show light surface wear/age patina with two pinhead-size depressions on obverse fitting, but no damage to the three reverse retaining staples or to lower ball. Nickel-silver chain with six upper and ten lower rings shows minor age patina to rings and connectors, and is complete with early, unmarked nickel-silver clip. Nice personalized example of one of the RAREST of the standard Third Reich daggers. Exc+/Exc++ (25243) $5,500.
