Carl Eickhorn, etched squirrel holding sword TM. Silver-plated hilt fittings show dark age patina with much factory darkening remaining in the recesses of the well detailed oak leaf embellished pommel, ferrule and crossguard with Eickhorn 1st pattern eagle which features superb wing feathering, and handwork to the checkering on the eagle’s chest and legs as pictured on page 24 of Exploring the Dress Daggers of the German Army by Thomas T. Wittmann. Medium orange, glass-like/translucent grip with nice age toning in the recesses of the grip swirls shows light surface wear with one tiny nick on edge of grip swirl on center reverse, but no cracks or other damage. Mirror polished blade grades Exc++/Near MINT showing light surface wear/runner marks to flats of blade, but no grayi8ng, pitting or nicks to cutting edges and is complete with dark brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, silver-plated scabbard shows light surface wear/age patina with well detailed shell, and is complete with the thick throat and reverse, center mounted, flat-head screw normally associated with Eickhorn Army daggers.
