This dagger is pictured on page 146 of John Angolia’s Edged Weaponry of the Third Reich and J.A. Bowman’s Third Reich Daggers 1933-1945. G. Reinhold Grah, Solingen-Foche with thimble in oval TM. This rare maker rates an “8” on the McSARR scale. Nickel-silved crossguards show light wear/age and reverse crossguard is group marked “Om” for Ostmark, with a slight mis-strike of the stamp. Medium brown fine-grained wooden grip with early production quality grip-to-crossguard fit shows wear/age including multiple minor scratches and depressions, but with silver grip eagle and SA insert properly inset. Blade grades EX- showing much surface wear/runner marks with much surface crazing, but no nicks to the cutting edges. Blade is presentation personalized with a script dedication in German to “Carl Eduard”. Possibly repainted steel scabbard shows much surface crazing to black enamel. The nickel-silver scabbard fittings show surface wear/age with several minor depressions to the lower ball. The brown leather hanger grades EX showing wear/age to the leather and is complete with uncleaned nickel-silver buckle and early unmarked clip. A very rare presentation NSKK by an early, scarce maker! CONSIGNMENT
