Johanniswerk, Bayreuth, antler & arrow on shield double-oval TM; RARE maker with an estimated 1,000 daggers produced. As stated on page 227of The Sword And Knife Makers Of Germany 1850-2000 Volume 1 by the late Anthony Carter, …“SA and NSKK daggers have been recorded bearing their oval trademark.” Nickel-silver hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina with reverse lower crossguard group marked, “Nrh” (Niederrhein).  Reddish-brown fine-grained wooden grip shows light surface wear with a small hairline crack on the lower obverse adjacent to crossguard, but no chips or nicks, and features early production quality grip-to-crossguard fit. Grip is complete with silver grip eagle and SA insert  properly inset.  Early mirror polished blade grades EX+, showing surface wear/runner marks, light gray shadowing and  some gray speckling primarily near crossguard, but no pitting, nicks to cutting edges and no damage to blade tip. Deeply-etched motto shows surface wear to the light gray background frosting.  Dent-free anodized scabbard retains approximately 95% of the brown anodization, showing light surface wear and amall “rug” spot on the upper reverse with much factory lacquer remaining. Dent-free, nickel-silver scabbard fittings show light surface wear/age patina with no damage to the lower ball or to the scabbard screws.  Nice dagger by RARE maker. EX+
