EMIL VOOS, SOLINGEN with snake and tree trunk TM. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show faint surface wear/age patina with lower crossguard group marked, “Nm” for Nordmark. Both Ralph Siegert’s SA reference book and the “McSARR” scale rate this maker a “5”. Rare and unique blonde wood grip is nearly perfect with only one slight indentation and the faintest hairline crack above the SA insert. Early grip to crossguard fit, with silver grip eagle and SA insert properly inset. Polished blade grades EX++/near MINT showing only faint surface wear/runner marks and one tiny nick to the blade, with deeply etched SA motto retaining 99% of the dark gray background frosting. Steel scabbard shows light surface wear with thinning brown anodized finish and some factory lacquer to shell, and two indentations along one edge. Nickel-silver fittings show light surface wear/age patina and no damage to lower ball. Dagger is complete with original brown leather hanger. It is certainly not easy to find an SA dagger in this condition! Each purchase from Tom’s personal collection will come with a signed and notarized statement of authenticity on JRB&M letterhead which would also state that the piece has been stored in Tom’s personal collection for a minimum of several decades, some as long as 55 years. This is truly a rare collecting opportunity!
