Late Production Transitional SA Dagger. RZM M7/68 1941, (Lauterjung & Co., Tiger Stahlwaren- und Waffenfabrik, Solingen)TM. As indicated on page 271 of The Sword and Knife Makers of Germany 1850-2000 by Anthony Carter, “Later SA and NSKK daggers were produced bearing solely the RZM number.” Nickel-silver hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina with unmarked lower crossguard as is correct for transitional and RZM SA daggers. The pommel nut is “frozen” to the tang and JRB&M has made no attempt to disassemble the dagger. The pommel nut has a few tiny nicks indicating an earlier attempt to disassemble the piece. Walnut-brown, fine-grained wooden grip with early quality grip-to-crossguard fit is perfect with no cracks or chips, and is complete with aluminum grip eagle and SA insert properly inset. Polished blade grades EX++/Near MINT, showing minor surface runner marks and one tiny nick to the lower left cutting edge (visible only from the reverse) with much cross graining remaining. Deeply etched motto retains 100% of the light gray background frosting. Dent-free steel scabbard retains virtually 100% of the original chocolate brown enamel with only minor surface wear, and faint surface crazing. Dent-free, nickel- plated scabbard fittings show faint surface wear, but no lifting or damage to lower ball, and are complete with undamaged screws. Nice Lauterjung & Co. transitional SA Dagger. EX++/Near MINT (26776) $850.
