This superb uncleaned example was recently obtained in Germany from the family of the recipient Luftwaffe Bordschütze, Unteroffizier Willi Kähler who was awarded the goblet on 31 October 1942 with the official notation made in the list of recipients on 11 November 1942. A photocopy of Herr Kähler’s listing as a recipient of the Ehrenpokal is included with the Honor Goblet. Silver-plated goblet is maker marked, “Joh. Wagner & Sohn Feinsilber Alpaka Auflage” (fine silver plate edition) on the bottom of the Goblet bowl which shows overall dark, age patina to the pebbled finish, with no dents or depressions. The obverse of the bowl shows two eagles in aerial combat, while the reverse bears the 1939 Iron Cross. Both of these designs, as well as the oak leaves on the stem of the base, are in repoussé relief. On a plain band below the oak leaves are the recipient’s name, rank and date of award, “Unteroffizier Willi Kähler am 31.10. 42”. Around the circumference of the base in repoussé relief are the words, “Für Besonder Leistung im  Luftkrieg” (For Outstanding Achievement in the Air War). Superb Ehrenpokal obtained from the family of the original recipient.
