KOZAK, BUDAPEST, (partial strike) TM. An example of this dagger with hangers is pictured on page 120 of World of Dress Daggers 1900-1945 by Robert J. Berger. Silver-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear/age patina to the eagle head pommel with reverse mounted retaining screw, and crossguard base with down-turned quillons. Attached to the base by a reverse screw is a bronze/brass eagle with spread, down-sloping wings. Black, hard rubber, vertically-fluted grip shows light surface wear but no cracks or chips. Plain, nickel-plated, double-edged, diamond cross-section NCO style blade grades EX+, showing minor wear/runner marks but, no lifting, speckling or nicks or nicks to cutting edges. Obverse ricasso is stamped, below the trademark with the accountability number, “471.”. The blade is without a buffer pad and no indication that one was ever present. Dent-free, silver-plated brass scabbard shows to surface wear plating on obverse/reverse shell, and features a large embossed Hungarian crest on the upper obverse, with a mixture of beaded bands, stylized feathers, and thin flutes. The black, woven fabric hangers grade EX++ showing minor age only with no wear or fraying and feature upper plain brass spring clip, oblong buckles with simple line cut decoration and plain lower clips. The matching black woven fabric belt grades EX++ matching the condition of the hangers. The belt is complete with a round, open brass buckle consisting of an oak and laurel leaf wreath supporting a flying eagle beneath the Hungarian crown. The upper half of the wreath features the raised inscription “ISTENNEL HAZAERT” (God, the homeland and freedom). RARE combination! EX+ (26545)
