Description
The 1937 pattern DRL badge was recently obtained in Germany from the family of the original recipient, Luftwaffe Radio Operator (Bordfunker) Unteroffizier Rudi Gemeinhardt. The badge retains much of the factory lacquered bronze finish to the oak leaf wreath with swastika over a bow at the bottom surrounding the intertwined initials, “DRL” (Deutscher Reichsbund für Leibsubungen). Reverse of the badge shows minor surface age with one spot of oxidation and is maker marked, “Wernstein Jena” and “D.R.G.M. 35269” and is complete with proper barrel-hinged flat pin which shows one minor crimp.
