A. Mrazek, Slany (lion) TM. Photographs of this RARE dagger can be found on page 85-86 of World of Dress Daggers 1900-1945 by Robert J. Berger. Gilded brass hilt fittings show surface wear to the circular pommel with raised lime tree leaves, grip straps and down-turned crossguard with lime tree leaf decorated clamshell. Orange celluloid grip plates with the obverse plate age toned darker, show minor surface wear but, no cracks or chips. Polished, diamond cross section blade measuring 8 ¾” grades EX++ showing light runner marks with one tiny gray spot on reverse tip but, with much factory cross-graining remaining and no nicks to cutting edges. The reverse blade ricasso is stamped with a rampant lion and is without a buffer pad with no indication one was ever present. Dent-free, steel scabbard covered in brown leather, shows light wear but, no rips, tears or shrinkage, and no damage to the seam. Upper, center, and lower gilt fittings show light age patina and are complete with fixed angular hanger rings on the upper and center fittings. The fittings feature a motif of incised vertical grooves and line tree leaves. The fittings retain much of the factory frosted finish with a depression to the obverse/reverse lower fitting. The EX/EX+, brown leather hangers wear and some loose stitching to the narrow, double-stitched straps with plain, oblong brass buckles and brass upper spring clip. EX+/EX++ (26944)
