Silver-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear with light age patina and portions of factory lacquer remaining in the recesses of the well detailed oak leaf pommel, as well as the crossguard with Eickhorn 1st pattern eagle. Reverse crossguard is jeweler engraved with the original owner’s name, “Mennig” in printed letters. Medium yellow, solid celluloid grip shows light surface wear with several dark age spots adjacent to the ferrule, but no cracks or chips. Plated blade grades EX+ showing light surface wear/runner marks with some light gray speckling, but no nicks to the cutting edges and is complete with brown leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free, silver-plated scabbard shows superb detail to the pebbled shell and 1st style beveled type scabbard bands with some speckling to the plating on the upper scabbard edges. Scabbard is complete with two side mounted scabbard throat retention screws and thicker throat as used by Eickhorn and pictured on page 24 of, Exploring The Dress Daggers of the German Army by Thomas T.
