Paul Weyersberg, Solingen, sword within wreath double-oval TM. This Weyersberg example was recently obtained from the son of a deceased WWII Army veteran who was given the knife the knife by a former German soldier who was befriended by the US soldier in early post-war Germany. Nickel-plated fittings, to include end cap and grip spine, show light surface wear with no lifting or pitting to the plating. Blade spring mechanism is stamped “40” with base of spike stamped with a Waffen-Amt stylized eagle and the number “5”. Medium brown, nicely grained wooden grip plates show minor surface, but no cracks or chips and are complete with eight retaining rivets. The obverse grip plate is personalized with the inscription, “Carl Tiellend Nov. 1947” in inked Gothic letters. The polished blade grades EX++ retaining portions of the cross graining with surface wear/runner marks, some minor scratches, and has been lightly sharpened but, with no nicks to the cutting edge. Reverse blade is marked, “Rostfrei”. Knife is complete with undamaged nickel-plated lanyard ring. Nice personalized Weyersberg example. EX+/EX++.
