Marked “CEJ” (C.E. Junker, Berlin) in box and “900” stamped below. Beautiful Silver Spanish Cross with correct Junker Hinge and pin. As this type is considered one the originally awarded pieces, the quality is much better than the later style LDO private purchase examples. The catch has been professionally repaired and although I would normally rate this as a distracter, the method and quality is done in such a way that is clearly does not detract from the desirability of this specimen. The replaced catch has been affixed in a very professional manner to a rectangular plate which is form fitted to the reverse of the six o’clock arm. The patination to the repaired catch and plate, matches the silver to the back of the cross. This is not a soldered “blob job” but, a superbly done period applied repair done by a jeweler. Obverse of badge has the correct cut-out swastikas, eagles, and sword grips for this manufacturer. Nicely toned and vaulted, the obverse shows beautiful age patination and some “frosting” remaining to lower surfaces. Please see GERMANCOMBATAWARDS.COM data base of originals for a matching Junker example.  A rare specimen. EX++.
