This is a beautiful specimen of a SS NCO degen. The SS – Unterfuhrer degen was thought to have been issued at the same time as the officer degen in 1936. As good quality SS Officer degens have almost disappeared from the collecting market, the SS NCO degen makes an affordable alternative for any SS collector. This specimen represents the finest condition and quality and easily measures up to the standards of an SS Officer Degen. An excellent opportunity to own a very rare SS item.
No maker. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show surface wear/age and no damage/cracks to pommel or to the knuckle-bow/crossguard. Pommel cap has the correct SS Runes with only minor wear to the black factory background darkening. Black grip shows almost no surface wear and no cracks or chips. Polished, steel blade grades EX+/EX++ showing light surface wear with faint speckling but, no pitting or nicks to cutting edge and is complete with aged, white leather buffer pad. Dent-free, steel scabbard retains 96% of the original black enamel showing very light surface wear and scratches to obverse and reverse. Upper nickel-plated scabbard fitting shows age patina with much of the factory applied darkening remaining in the recesses of upper fittng and is secured by two dome-head retaining screws. Scabbard throat is properly SS proofmarked. EX+/EX++ (28367)
