CARL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN stamped squirrel holding-sword TM. An example of this sword is illustrated in the Eickhorn Kundendienst as Polizei=Unterf├╝hrerdegen Nr. 1773. Nickel-plated hilt fittings show light surface wear with to pommel cap, ferrule and knuckle-bow with a spot of lifting to the underside of the upper knuckle-bow and underside of the crossguard. The underside of the crossguard is stamped with SS -Runes. Black wooden grip shows minor surface wear with a few faint surface depressions but, no cracks or chips and is complete with silver Police eagle with factory frosting in recesses properly inset on the obverse. Polished, matte finish blade measuring 29 ┬Ż” in length grades EX+/EX++ showing light wear/runner marks and some minor gray shadowing/speckling but, no pitting or nicks to the cutting edge. Blade is complete with a brown leather buffer pad which shows minor age cracks. The steel scabbard with one small depression to the upper reverse shell, retains approximately 98% of original black enamel showing minor crazing and few specks of missing paint. Nickel-plated upper scabbard fitting shows light yellow age patina with dark factory finish remaining in the scrollwork design and is complete with both unturned scabbard screws. The scabbard throat is stamped with SS -Runes. Nice SS- marked Police NCO sword that is becoming difficult to locate in today’s collector market. EX+/EX++ (28400)
