WKC, knight’s helmet TM.  This uncleaned example was recently purchased from the estate of a Louisiana WWII veteran. Silver-plated hilt fittings show dark age patina to the oak leaf embellished pommel and 2nd pattern WKC crossguard which retains virtually 100% of the factory darkening in the recesses of the eagle with “tomahawk” style beak design. Dark orange grip shows virtually no surface wear with a small hairline crack on the upper obverse and reverse, but no nicks or chips. Plated blade grades EX+/EX++ showing minor surface wear/runner marks with some gray spotting on lower obverse and obverse/reverse tip, but no nicks to cutting edges. Blade is complete with tan leather blade buffer pad. Dent-free silver-plated steel scabbard is covered in light gray age patina with a tiny speck of gray on the obverse/reverse scabbard throat which is retained by a post-1937 WKC pattern single side-mounted retention screw. Dagger is complete with an original 42cm portepee that has broken from wear. The standard hangers grade Near MINT with no wear/age to fabric or fittings. Nice uncleaned veteran estate example.
